For This Good Deed, Our Technician Drives Home And Gets His Personal Tools

The homeowner in Corona asked Service Champions technician Luke to help her with a Good Deed For Free and Luke is always happy to help a client. But he wasn’t sure he could pull this one off.

“She had a key that had broken off in a lock,” he said. “It was on a gate that lead to her backyard, and she was worried people could get in and take her BBQ and patio furniture.”

The broken key was lodged very snugly in the lock. The homeowner and her son had already tried several times to get it out and it had been in there for months.

“After looking at it, I didn’t know if I could do it. But I know she’s on a limited budget, so I thought I’d give it a shot to see if I could save her the cost of a locksmith,” Luke said.

Luke figured he would have the best chance for success with some of his personal tools and he drove home to get them. Luckily, he lived about a mile away, so it didn’t take long him long to go get them.

He modified an Allen wrench to create a hook on the end of it. With that, plus some WD-40 and needle-nose pliers, Luke eventually got it out.

“I had to sacrifice an Allen wrench and it took me about 30 minutes, but I finally got it out!” Luke said.

When Luke told the homeowner he had removed the broken key, she was absolutely thrilled.

“I can’t believe you were able to get that out!” she said. “I’m so glad to have that done, I really didn’t like not being able to lock that.”

But Luke wasn’t done helping.

He also fixed the latch on the gate by using his personal drill from home.

“She’s a very nice lady,” Luke said. “I like helping her out. In fact, she called me later about some light bulbs she had in a bathroom that she couldn’t reach that needed replaced. I stopped on my way home with a ladder and swapped out the bulbs for her.”

The homeowner was blown away by how much Luke got done for her and was very appreciative.

Luke, that is really going above and beyond to show the true spirit of Good Deeds For Free – thank you for your efforts!
