A Little Yarn Fixes This Pesky Problem

Service Champions technician Michael was about to head up to the attic to service a unit when his customer asked if he could do her a favor.

There was a closet right next to the attic entrance. Could Michael pull down the string to get the light to go on?

“I’m afraid I can’t reach as high as I used to!” she said.

Of course, Michael was happy to do that. But it also made him think… ‘I wonder how does she do it when no one is here to help her?’

Michael started brainstorm ways to extend the string. A shoelace would be good, but he didn’t have access to one. Or maybe some extra string… but no, that wasn’t available either. Wait, what about…

“Hey, do you happen to have any yarn?” Michael asked. “I’ve got an idea on how to make this work better for you.”

Sure, she did. The customer brought him some pink yarn. Michael knew the yarn would not hold up unless he braided it to make it stronger. He took a few minutes and created a small rope of yarn. Then he attached it to the end of the light string.

“Can you try that and see if it will work for you?” Michael said.

It worked perfectly.

“Wow, I didn’t even think of something like that. Thank you!” she said.

The homeowner explained that she had been using a flashlight to find things in the closet. This would be much easier.

“I’m happy to do it, and I’m happy it will work better for you” Michael told her.
