Thermostat Troubleshooting – System Not Responding
When your heating or cooling system doesn’t respond, try these few tips.
Honeywell 4000 series (Th4110D/ TH4210D)
- Set the system to heat and make sure the temperature is set higher than the inside temperature
- Set the system to cool and make sure the temperature is set lower than the inside temperature
- Wait 5 minutes for the system to respond
Honeywell 6000 series (TH6110D/ TH6220D/ TH6320U) &
Honeywell 8000 series (TH8110U/ TH8320U/ TH8321U)
- Press System button and set system to Heat. Make sure the temperature is set higher than the inside temperature
- Press System button and set system to Cool. Make sure the temperature is set lower than inside temperature
- Check the circuit breaker and reset if necessary
- Check to make sure the power switch at the heating & cooling system is on
- Make sure the furnace door is securely closed
- Wait 5 minutes for the system to respond
** For the Honeywell 8000 series if “Wait” is displayed, the compressor protection timer is on. Wait 5 minutes for the system to safely restart. The compressor protection feature forces the compressor to wait a few minutes before restarting to prevent equipment damage.
