On November 16, 2013 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Service Champions joined thousands of friends and families in support of autism awareness. Walk Now is an annual walk put on by Autism Speaks, a proactive organization based in New York that works to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and provide resources for families with autistic members. It is a centralized location and network for families and patrons of all kinds.
Service Champions was the presenting sponsor of Walk Now for Autism Speaks of the Orange County chapter. The event raised over $261,000 and hosted a walk for no less than 9,000 people. Parents and friends arrived in team t-shirts, face paint and poster boards to support their children and each other on the walk across the Great Park.
The event rallied much needed support from families within the autism community, inspired children with willpower and created a unified society dedicated to fighting autism and pushing for more research to combat the disease.
Sponsoring Walk Now for Autism Speaks is one part of Service Champions’ charitable works. This annual partnership has opened up several opportunities for families of Southern California to obtain resources they need, hold events such as this walk and fellowship with other members of the autism community.
Service Champions has made great strides in making a presence in local communities as a model corporate citizen. Whether it’s a small deed like emptying the trash after a furnace repair or joining thousands of people walk for a cause, Service Champions continues to put forth good deeds wherever we go.
