Repairing Your Air Conditioner with Service Champions
Whether your unit is old or damaged, for one reason or another, your central air system isn’t creating the results you need. Choosing the right AC company is an important step in restoring your home comfort and lifestyle.
When your Service Champions specialist arrives to diagnose your AC unit and/or furnace, he may find that there are multiple problems that may be causing your central air system to underperform.
AC/Condenser Motors Stop Working
The compressor motor fan is what kick-starts the entire process of air conditioning. When this motor malfunctions, the process of cooling air fails before it even has a chance to start.
Fixing Refrigerants, Condensers and Condensation Lines
The AC unit that sits outside of the house is the condenser which houses the compressor that sends a stream of refrigerant into the furnace where the air is then cooled inside the indoor coils. When the refrigerant runs low or the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant is not what it should be, the result will be lukewarm air filtering into your home.
If the refrigerant is not an issue, the compressor may be locked or stuck. Sometimes the condenser coils may be clogged due to poor maintenance. Visit our maintenance page to learn more about our maintenance procedures.
Here is an example of a condenser coil that we came across and the result after our technician took care of it.
The pump that moves the refrigerant into the AC system’s indoor coils is crucial in the air conditioning process. A simple repair or replacement will relieve the blockade and restore cool air.
While on a repair call, our technician came across a fried capacitor which is found on the condenser. These calls are not uncommon. Our technicians are trained for all air conditioning repair needs. All of our technicians are trained in our state-of-the-art training facility. Each tech must go though mandatory 150 hours of training each year. This client did not have to replace their condenser which saved the client money. We do not bill you by the hour so you will never get rushed service from Service Champions Heating & Air Conditioning.
When the AC runs for long periods of time, the evaporative coils spend equal amount of time in lower temperatures to keep your air cool. When the coils climb back up to a normal temperature, condensation takes place and creates water. Water drips can easily be collected in a drip pan, avoiding any type of mess or stain. But lack of maintenance can contribute to a flooded pan. When this happens a number of problems occur. Still water attracts insects and germs, mold grows and the overall hygiene of your home is compromised. The only way to prevent these issues is to have drip pans cleaned regularly with scheduled maintenances.
Drip pans provided by Service Champions come with a safety switch that accommodates backed up pans. Once the pan overfills with water, the AC system automatically turns off, notifying us of any necessary maintenance.
Low Voltage Repair
If you find your thermostat to be unresponsive, there is a possibility that the voltage may have fallen below the necessary level of 24 volts. In order for control systems within the AC system to correspond with the air conditioning unit and thermostat, 24 volts are necessary.
Your technician will check the voltage levels between the connections of the thermostat, furnace and compressor.
